Job Title:Human Resources Generalist

Department:Human Resources

Reports To:Director of Human Resources & Administration

Job Summary:

The Human Resources Generalistcollaborates with the Director of Human Resources & Administration and Senior Leadership team to partner in running the daily functions of the HR department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. Specific areas of focus include HR Strategic initiatives, policy implementation, classification and compensation, recruitment, onboarding and retention, technology platforms, reporting, employee engagement surveys, payroll administration, benefits and leave administration.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Enters, maintains, and/or processes information in the payroll system; information may include employee’s hourly rates, salaries, commissions, bonuses or other compensation, time worked, paid leave and holidays, deductions and withholding, address changes, and other information.
  • Ensures proper processing of payroll deductions for taxes, benefits, charitable contributions, and other deductions.
  • Reconciles payroll to the general ledger and monthly bank statements.
  • Issues, or reissues, physical or replacement checks or direct deposits due to payroll errors or final discharge.
  • Conducts compensation analysis and maintenance of salary banding for staff.
  • Act as the primary benefits administrator by assisting with but not limited to; open enrollment, claims data, benefits spend analysis, staff benefits enrollment.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Conducts or acquires all pre-employment vetting materials and employee eligibility verifications such as background checks, UDS, and reference checks.
  • Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience & Skills:

Education:

High school education or equivalent required.

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or organizational psychology or related field, highly preferred.

Experience:

1-2 years of progressive Human Resources experience or

1-2 years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping with at 1 year of experience in payroll.

Technology:

Proficient in Microsoft Office 365.

Experience working in ADP.

Certifications:

SHRM - CP, or equivalent a plus.
